We’re excited to introduce AI-Enhanced Visual Search, now available in the UO Brand Library. This new capability makes it faster and easier to find the exact images and videos you need. Instead of relying solely on tags and keywords, search results are now informed by the visual content of assets themselves.
How it Works
- Look for the brain icon in the search bar to toggle AI-Enhanced Search on or off
- Search using natural, everyday language
- The more detail you provide, the more accurate your results will be
- AI analyzes visual elements such as objects, actions, colors, lighting, composition, and even emotion
- Hybrid search combines AI insights with existing metadata (titles, tags, filters)
While this feature reduces reliance on manual tagging, important context—such as building names, people, departments, or research-specific equipment—will continue to be added and maintained through metadata.
Security and Responsible AI Use
AI-Enhanced Visual Search operates entirely within the UO’s Canto Brand Library environment. The content is never used to train public AI models or shared with third parties.
As with all AI-powered tools, results may occasionally be incomplete or inaccurate. Important details should always be verified using metadata, descriptions, and established review processes.
Best Practices
When using AI-Enhanced Visual Search, please keep the following in mind:
- Apply professional judgment when reviewing results
- Do not rely on results as a single source of truth
- Do not infer personal characteristics (such as race, ethnicity, gender, nationality, religion, age, disability status, or sexuality) from images
- Follow existing brand and usage guidelines
